by Richard Fedor Leopold Dehmel (1863 - 1920)

Deutsches Lied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Mich drängt zu singen
deutschen Geistes Kraft.
Erde nimmt Himmelschwingen,
wenn er dich, Volk, aufrafft.

Über die Eichenkronen
stürmt er zugvogeldreist
in alle Zonen,
wenns ihn zur Tat hinreißt.

Welten schweben nieder,
wenn er träumen will;
Himmel nimmt Erdgefieder,
heimatstill.

Mag er zu schlafen scheinen,
wenn er ruht:
plötzlich durch all die Seinen
zuckt Morgenglut.

Mit einem Märchenlachen
heller Verwegenheit
hörst du, Volk, ihn erwachen.
O Geist der Herrlichkeit!
